Privacy Policy

Paperscout is designed to be private by default. Everything happens locally on your computer.

What we collect

Nothing. Paperscout does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. There are no analytics, no tracking, no accounts, and no external servers. The developer never receives any information about you or the pages you capture.

How the extension works

When you capture a page, the extension reads the content of the page you are on (or, for the "capture all tabs" feature, your open tabs) only on your device, builds the PDF locally using your browser, and hands it to your browser's normal save dialog. The captured content is never uploaded anywhere.

Local storage

The extension stores a small amount of data locally in your browser only:

Your preferences (selected mode, and whether "remove ads and clutter" is enabled).
A simple daily counter for the free capture limit.
Temporary capture data (page content or screenshots) held only for the few seconds needed to build the PDF, then deleted.

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to the developer.

Permissions and why they are used

activeTab / scripting - to read and capture the page you explicitly choose.
storage - to remember your preferences and to temporarily hold capture data while the PDF is built.
Access to your tabs (optional) - requested only the first time you use "Capture all tabs," so the extension can read your other open tabs to combine them into one PDF. If you never use that feature, it is never requested.

Payments

The optional one-time upgrade is handled by ExtensionPay using Stripe. Payment information is processed by Stripe and is never seen or stored by the developer. Paperscout only checks whether your upgrade is active; it does not receive your payment details.

Third parties

Apart from the optional payment step above, Paperscout does not use any third-party services, analytics, or advertising. Fonts and all assets are bundled with the extension - no external requests are made while you use it.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
